About the culture work
Art does not develop of one’s own accord, but in workshops and studios. The culture work in the Professional association of artists of Berlin promotes art, by making available a various infrastructure for its production. In conscious demarcation for individual promotion over scholarships and prices the culture work creates entrance to studios for all professional artists, to approximately 18 different workshops as well as to participation possibilities for advertisements for art in the public area. The achievements of the printing element place and the sculptor workshop of the culture work are against very low repay, the achievements of the office for art in the public area as well as the studio office without costs usable. With its workshops and offices the culture work bbk of Berlin is the only structure organization for the promotion of the artwork of the contemporary forming art in Berlin. More than four thousand artists make use of the offer of the culture work annually.
The
2000 members strong federation developed 1973 its printing element
place in the house of artists Bethanien with public means, in order to
make it accessible for all artists. One year later the culture work got
its current legal form as GmbH. The artists carry this society over its
association, bbk Berlin e. V.
In
the beginning of the 90's three further institutions developed, with
which bbk of Berlin could establish the culture work as serving
achievement centers for artistic projects in Berlin: the office for art
in the public area (1979), the sculptor workshop in the Wedding (1985),
the studio office with its studio-assigned (1991). At present a medium
workshop is in planning and starting period. This workshop is to
correspond to the large need of possibilities for employment within the
range of digital picture art and art presentations.
The liberty of the art
bbk
and its institutions are committed to the liberty of the art. The
autonomy and independence of the art and the art enterprise of
political or official defaults and the protection of the art from a
dominance of commercial compulsory exploitations are a condition of
their authenticity. One organized promotion of the art by free carriers
and initiatives into own responsibility contributes substantially to
the possibility of an unrestricted and free development of the art.
The
culture work understands itself since the beginnings as a self-help
project of Berlin artists. Founder, carrier and partner are bbk Berlin
e.V. He works on behalf of the artists and in the context of a
non-profit character. The organization developed by the artists is to
all artists free of charge without restrictions in Berlin or against a
small payment at the disposal.
The
culture work is promoted by means of the senate administration for
Science, research and culture. For this promotion, which is supported
